From Lego engineering to dragons that demand attention, Sebastian's creativity refuses to be contained. Three websites chronicle his evolution from builder to artist—each one a digital monument to imagination that won't quit. A Labor of Love
As a grandfather and designer, there's no greater joy than watching your grandson grow and create. Sebastian has always been a builder - whether it's Legos, K'nex, or his imaginative art of dragons and elephants. I wanted to give him a special place to share his creativity with the world.
Over the years, I've created three versions of Sebastian's website, each one reflecting both his growth as a young artist and my evolution as a designer. What started as a simple slideshow has become this vibrant, interactive platform - a digital portfolio that captures his imagination and showcases his boundless creativity. Each version is a time capsule of where Sebastian was in his creative journey, and where I was in mine.

Sebastian V1 - The Beginning (His Early Days)
Sebastian's Age: Young builder exploring Legos and K'nex
What I Built: A simple slideshow website to showcase Sebastian's early creations. He was so proud of his Lego builds and K'nex structures - I wanted him to have a place to show them off to family and friends.
The Memories: Basic galleries with photos of his projects. Simple navigation, but it captured his early creativity perfectly. Every new build he made, we'd photograph and add to his site.
Technical Approach: HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. Nothing fancy - just a loving grandfather's first attempt at preserving his grandson's creative spirit online.
Sebastian V2 - The Expansion (His Growth Years)
Sebastian's Evolution: Branching into fine art, dragons, elephants, gorillas, and teaching others!
What I Built: Sebastian was creating so much more now - his imagination was exploding! He needed organized galleries to showcase different types of work. This version introduced his signature greeting: "Hi, I'm Sebastian!" - his friendly, enthusiastic personality shining through.
The Memories: Watching him develop his own artistic style. The dragons were particularly special - he'd spend hours perfecting them. The elephant series showed his attention to detail. And he even started creating tutorials to teach other kids!
Technical Evolution: Better organization with category-based navigation, improved visuals, responsive design for tablets and phones so he could show friends on any device.
Sebastian V3 - Today (The Current Chapter)
Sebastian Now: A maturing artist with a rich portfolio spanning years of creative exploration
What I Built: This is my most ambitious gift to Sebastian yet. Using everything I've learned as a designer and grandfather, I created an immersive, interactive experience worthy of his incredible body of work. The flying drone squadron you see isn't just decoration - it represents Sebastian's imagination soaring, always building, always creating, always in motion.
Special Features I Added:
- Eight Flying Drones: Each one representing a different aspect of his creativity - symbolic of how his imagination has expanded over the years

Why This Version is Special: It's not just a website - it's a celebration of Sebastian's journey. As his grandfather and his web designer, this is my way of telling him: "Your creativity matters. Your imagination is extraordinary. And the world deserves to see what you can do."

Sebastian V3 is my way of saying "I see you, I'm proud of you, and your imagination matters."
